Charcuterie How-To

Crafting the perfect charcuterie board is as simple as 1-2-3! For a spread that serves 8-10 people, start with a 15” board, then layer it with:

  • 4 varieties of delicious cheeses

  • 4 flavorful meats

  • A selection of fresh fruits

  • 3-4 Accouterments

  • And, of course, the very best crackers—North Hill Sourdough!

Thank you to Kristen from It’s Not Just a Board for her incredible charcuterie artistry.

See how to build a board step by step below.

01

Start with the Cheese

Place 3-4 different types of cheese in different corners of the board. Recommended types of cheese that are crowd pleasers and pair with North Hill Crackers; Aged Cheddar, Goat Cheese, Brie, Manchengo and Gouda. If your are serving an adventurous crowd, then go for Blue with our Black Pepper Crackers. Precut the cheese. to make it easy to eat.

02

Next, Place the Meat

You can use 4-5 types of meat. To create a rose, use a shot glass and wrap pieces of salami around it. Encourage everyone to dig into the rose, even if it's too pretty to eat. You can buy a variety of meat on trays at your local speciality food store.

03

Add the Fruit

Strawberries, blueberries & grapes are the quintessential charcuterie fruit. Odd number of groups for the strawberries are more visually appealing.

04

Accent with Accouterments

Fill in the edges and gaps with common accouterments like, olives, candied nuts, honey & apricots.

Finally North Hill Crackers

Add North Hill Sourdough Crackers onto the board just before serving so they stay fresh & crunchy. We use 2 flavors for a board this size.  You are now ready for the party!
